The concept here is to capture all data about planet earth including life on earth. Including opinions, entertainment, and other data. Past, present, and future. The purpose is two-fold - documentation for future generations, including those traveling in space and colonizing other planets. And, if/when mankind has become extinct, that the information is available for any other creatures (including of course any possible god-like beings) that might exist in this universe.

This can also be seen as "The complete history of earth and mankind, as told by very many humans, and a bunch of other stuff.".

One concept in building this is centralized and distributed. Different people or groups can make their own complete data archive / "time capsule", with constantly updating selected data from others on the internet. Then as anyone gathers two or more data collections, duplicated content is automatically merged to avoid browsing through the same material twice, and avoiding duplication of stored data.

Data storage is 2 x 2. Permanent and temporary - times - for other beings and for humans now, and future including those hurdling through outer space to colonize other planets, and of course those that succeed.

So, for other beings, this means many different storage media, especially non-electronic. We will have to assume that any electronics will not function, and any power source is depleted or failed. Or they might not understand how to access it.

And for what ever kind of beings - how might they be able to perceive the data, like do they have sight? How can they handle it, manipulate it, etc. Like can they turn pages of a book.

Next - how will they interpret our languages. We have to start with some system that is teaching our languages, and they can build on it until can understand all the material. And how to make clear that a lot of the data is non-factual, such as made up entertainment. And opinions. And of course at the same time making clear a number of languages, and dialects, why that is, that translating is imperfect, etc. And about misinterpretations and such.

Then, how to explain what the data archives are and how they are laid out, especially including reconciling overlap. And also the other media stored and where, so that damaged data on local archives might be available on other archives.

Although the intent is more about preserving, in documentation, about the planet earth, it's magnificence, splendor, beauty, and all the life, and amazing wonder, this is also about capturing thoughts and opinions of everyone who wants to share. This may prove very interesting to descendant relatives, especially while hurtling through space.

The thought and concept is about a collection of data, of course this can always reference physical items, and so can be useful combined with saved seed banks and other similar attempts at preserving nature.
