Helping people main menu.

Sharing information is a very powerful thing to do. In many cases it multiplies the value of efforts/work to accomplish a particular goal.

Below :   What How Why   followed by comments about language, and more.

If you would like to share with this project, please also see this page : share information (opens in new window).

This project is also a great deal about sharing information. Please share.

What : Information to share.

unhappy with the world  - What you think are problems or issues in the world.

what I am doing - Share what you are doing about problems or issues, local or worldwide, or to help people.

problems - Problems and issues that you know of or are concerned about, local, regional, and worldwide.

efforts - What you or someone is doing to be less of a part of a problem, work on a solution, or help people.

solutions - Complete workable plans to solve a problem or issue. Whether already started or not. Can also be incomplete if clearly indicating that, and is fairly obvious can be made complete.

research - Information about a problem or issue.

ideas - Ideas about possible solutions or what to do about problems or issues, how to help people, or just business or in general.

stories - Stories about you or others, and how they came to be in a problem situation. Can also be about how they were helped.

opinions - Have an opinion about something - share it. The idea here is valuable opinions, not just hate.

predictions - What you or someone thinks will happen in the future. If a very specific event, of course share the date and time of that. If very vague, okay, but probably not so valuable. Interest here is also what you or someone thinks people in the future looking back to today will see/think.

rules - This is mainly about rules in life, and how to function in the world. Can also be other rules, and for sets of established rules in a school for example, indicate that clearly. (That it is about a specific situation/location/group.)

morals - Your morals.

principles - Your principles.

quotes - Your favorite quotes of others.

And other things in topics that you have information to share about.

It is equally valuable to share links to information that is already on the internet. For example, if you feel something is a problem, and someone else has a good definition, place a link to that, instead of copying or writing your own that is effectively the same.

Sharing positive things, like what are happy with about the world is of course also valuable. The systems here will support working with that information as well, in time. Focus for this site and project at the moment -is about problems in the world and solving them.

How :

Information publicly posted on the internet is most valuable. In the begin, this site and project focuses entirely on public information on the internet.

Primarily text is useful for gathering and organizing. Other media, is certainly valuable, but should be described and referenced in text to allow best utilization. Recordings of speech should be transcribed.

It is important to share information on the internet period. However...

The topic fej.org on this site describes more specific methods of presenting information for most effective usage by the project.

Although it is not critical that the information be posted on your own personal website, that may prove for some to be more useful or desirable to do so.

Why :

Reasons to share information relative to making the world a better place (and in general) includes :

For example, if you are doing something to make the world a better place, others can use the information to see if they can do the same, or help with what you do. Further, especially in your real-life and virtual social networks, others can see what you do, and consider, in a competitive vain, to also do something whether the same or completely different.

Another example would be victim stories, so that others can analyze the details and look for ways to prevent more people from becoming victims. Maybe even themselves.

Languages

This site is being built initially in English. Information in Dutch is also being gathered, and hopefully soon this site will be translated into Dutch.

All other languages, including dialects and dying languages, will be supported soon. Eventual integration will include translations from and to all other languages.

Until your language is fully supported, it is recommended that you produce your information in your most fluent language. Then if your language is not yet supported and it is possible, translate into English for usage by this site. Information not in a language supported by this system is still highly valuable.

Comments

Fejj's comments on information.

The focus generally is on facts versus non-facts. Non-facts are broken down into further categories. Fact pending is a construct to allow a non-fact, that is likely to be proven or mutually agreed on, to be used as a fact. However, it will be clear that something based on a "fact pending" is not a fact, and is itself maximally a "fact pending". Of course when a pending fact is made a fact, everything that was being held back because of it will automatically be promoted to a fact.

One major usage of organizing information based on it's factuality is to make discussions more efficient. So, a thread in a discussion that is based on what is a fact for some, but not for others, will be mainly visible to those for whom it is a fact, and for others that thread is in the background. This enables efficiency by focusing on that which fits into a persons understanding of the world.

Here is an area where facts and pending facts are generally equivalent, in that, if someone has not accepted something completely as a fact, but considers it pending, that is it will likely become a fact, they will still see and can work with discussions (or other) with that pending fact that others have decided is a fact.

This mechanism is also useful for prioritizing which ideas, plans, etc. to view first. The items that are very different in terms of what is fact and what is not, are still accessible, but are indicated as being from a different perspective and are less visible than the ones that fit in the same perspective.
